opportunities and training provision.

up to date national occupational standards for the industry.

Works with colleges
and other partners to enhance education provision and training
delivery.

Develops learning
pathways and publicises and promotes career opportunities.

Offers practical
guidance and advice to companies on cost-effective learning
programmes to meet their own, and the nation's needs for
maritime skills.

Works with the
Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) to ensure that training
arrangements take proper account of current good practice and
international and national regulations governing safety at sea
and protection of the marine environment.

Publishes training
information, including Training Portfolios and Record Books as
part of the planned and structured programmes followed by all
new entrants to the industry.
